Seven Photography Blogs Worth Following – Digital ProTalk

Today's blog recommendation goes to what might likely be the most popular wedding photography blog on the planet. However, you don't have to be a wedding photographer to appreciate all the content you will find here.

Digital ProTalk
I am a big fan of Digital ProTalk. I don't remember how I first became acquainted with this blog, probably through a photography forum, but have been quite addicted ever since. I am sure that once you taste all the lighting, posing, shooting, and day to day business and marketing advice offered up, you too will become a follower.

Who's Behind It?
Digital ProTalk is published by David Ziser, an internationally acclaimed wedding and portrait photographer, and as far as I'm concerned, one of the finest bloggers bloggers on the planet too. David is a prolific blogger, with content updated three times per week. In addition to blogging, David tours worldwide producing seminars such as his recent “Digital Wakeup Call” tour.

So far I have attended two of David's live seminars and a couple of webinars, which he has generously provided for free. I can never seem to get enough of this photographer's sage advice. David has a mission to educate today's wedding photographers and makes his knowledge accessible to virtually anyone. He is kind of a renaissance man who can speak on practically any topic with confidence, and appears to have boundless energy, producing so much content that I wonder at times how he ever has the time to photograph his never ending stream of engagement sessions, weddings, bar mitzvahs, and portrait sessions on top of all his other pursuits.

But wait, that's not all! David recently released an excellent book on wedding photography, “Captured by the Light” and has authored an almost overwhelming array of educational resources, which are available on his website.

What's the Blog About?
It should come as no surprise that a wedding photographer's blog focuses on wedding photography. However, don't tune out just because you don't shoot weddings. Nearly every week he covers some aspect of lighting and posing. These techniques are not unique to weddings, so pay attention and learn. He also covers the many aspects of marketing and is probably one of the best at staying on top.

The blog reflects David's organized way of doing things with different days of the week assigned for different topics. It goes like this “Quick Hit Monday,” “Technique Tuesday,” and “Business Day Thursday.” There are always two or more postings on the days he posts and one of these will be a featured photo, either recent or from his vast collection of beautiful images, with some discourse about the making of it. Of course, there is some room for altering the format now and again, but for the most part you can count on the blog staying with this topical trio.

I think it is time that you take Digital ProTalk for a test drive. Trust me, you will like it!

Coming Next
This is the third posting for this seven part series on photography blogs worth following. Three down and four to go, so come back tomorrow and see what the next blog will be.

Until then...
